You know, the one thing we know for sure about situations like this is that it is going to end badly for one of the two groups involved. Should we set up a pool to see who is going to end up with the short end of the stick on this one?

The Anonymous hacker group says it plans to target the Federal Reserve starting tomorrow, most likely with a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack designed to shut down the agency's Web site. In a YouTube video, the group is calling for public protests until Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke steps down.

Meh, calling Anonymous a hacker group is kind of misleading...It's a gaggle of teens running LOIC and thinking they're h4x0ring. It's not like they're using SQL injections, local file inclusions, cross site scripting, etc to gain root access to anything. They're just being an annoyance.

Lulzsec on the other hand...

In before Anonymous apologists likening them to great freedom fighters of history.

At this rate, how long before the government doesn't have to propose anything and the voting public themselves demands the internet be locked down?

Oh no. Not the federal reserve website. I don't think anyone will notice. It would be better if they found a way to shut down the federal reserve itself.

The most frustrating thing is that our government and law enforcement are seemingly powerless to do anything. Screwing with a government computer system should get you a visit from some very scary guys in suits, where they drag your pale teenage virgin ass kicking and screaming from your house.

Fed gifting profits via to primary dealers via QE, POMO, etc is pretty much known in finance circles. All it takes is some document leaks to expose it as official.

Are you trying to be facetious or are you really not aware of the HBGary debacle?

Ron Paul wants the Federal Reserve to go bye bye anyhow so I am good with this :D

That's just what I was thinking when I read the title. When they mess with NATO, they're freedom fighters looking out for us against the arm if oppression.

Now they're mess with OUR money.

And like I said in the last anon thread - you can't hack a tank. My money is on our military cause we've already stated we're not fucking around with this. You hack us, its an act of war.

No, these guys are very smart. But they aren't invincible and their arrogance will be their undoing.
That's irrelevant to the comment I quoted.

Anonymous did exactly what he claimed they don't do to take down HBGary and HBGary Federal. Furthermore, the latest news is that key players in lulzsec are the same key players that have been in anonymous for some time.

Ah, the bully moment wants attention again. Its going to be hilarious when they start finding law enforcement officials knocking on their doors. :D

Damn straight! If these guys think they are going to seriously hack large financial institutions with impunity they have another thing coming. You start fucking with people's money the game goes to a whole new level.

I hope they make the Federal Reserve crash and burn! Put our money back on the gold standard!

I was simply saying that these guys are not to be underestimated which is what I thought you were saying.

I hate the Federal Reserve for the evil, evil organization that they are, but this isn't really an effective way of dealing with them...

Speaking of tanks, that'd be a cool punishment for these guys. Death by tank. Line 'em all up and send a shell straight through all of them :D

they'll be getting visits from men in dark suits dropping out of the sky in black helicopters and parents will wonder what ever happened to the basement dwelling troll that used to eat all thier food.

And when the government starts giving a shit these kids will be raped in prisons...I just think the governments don't give a shit right now, but if they touch a secret or the Federal Reserve, I think its game over.

I don't get it, these people are supposodley so smart, yet they think they can get away with everything. And wtf does hacking the Federal Reserve have to do with Freedom Fighting? How about Sony? NATO? My god, these hackers must be pretty stupid when it comes to common sense or knowledge other than hacking.

theres not enough gold in the world to power our economy , so gold standard would fail miserably.

I've worked in the financial sector a long time and very little that Paul and Libertarians say in general makes any sense to me. Modern financial systems are EXTREMELY complex and I think that much of what these people say is meant to scare people over a system that's just difficult to understand.

The gold standard had MANY problems. Considering the size of the world economy today it makes little sense to artificially tie it to a rare metal, less sense than trying to control a paper money supply.

never, ever leave that possibility out. now that peple are becoming more and more aware of the fed reserve and their shady math and money practices, all we need is so called "extremests" to besmirch the movement to expose the reserve for what it is and open the hegelian solution of, "you see!! we need more government/police control of the net and your personal life".

These idiots are forcing the issue and escalating it. The new Cyber Security dept of HSL will make or break their name on this.

Libertarians, Socialists and Communists all have one thing in common, they put forth a form of government that sounds great on paper, but the implementation of which is beyond the scope of mortal man.

Your Joking, right?

Not in the slightest. FYI- The Federal reserve is a PRIVATE bank that has no oversight from congress and makes our monetary policy with impunity. No audits, no rules but their own, and they are not even beholden to the interests of the American public. (over half the bailout money was sent to over seas banks and we had to go along with it because the Fed said so)

END THE FED!
