Speaking of which I noticed these the other night:revenant said:Nice work! yeah, you're looking at a Koolance Exos II or some sort of external H2O setup.. bought or home brew... I saw the Exos II @ Fry's tonight.. $399! lol.
jebo_4jc said:My question (as a potential P180 buyer) is, why do you need the intake fan? Isn't the "thick" 120mm in the bottom chamber there to suck air in from the front of the case, over the HDD's, and out the back of the PSU?
I am thinking about taking out the middle fan on the botton of my p180 and just using this mod. What does everyone think? Think i will still have plenty of cooling for two or three hard drives and a power suplly in the bottom? I am putting in a OCZ Powerstream 600 and it is 7" long so i probally will have to remove the middle fan. Any thoughts?jebo_4jc said:My question (as a potential P180 buyer) is, why do you need the intake fan? Any input if it will be ok to remove the bottom middle fan and just use the extra 1200mm discussed on this thread for cooling?SarverSystems said:The actual size of the drill bit isn't important, as long as it is wide enough to pop the heads of the rivets off.

Also what size drill bit did you use? Great thread too
grrr so did you just dril out the rivets and take out the whole bracket? Got any pics?Yes, you definitely will have to move that fan. I had to move it with my Powerstream 520
You don't need it. The 120MM fan provides enough negative pressure to suck air in from the front and over the drives.jebo_4jc said:My question (as a potential P180 buyer) is, why do you need the intake fan? Bought it at an Antec reseller. It was missing the whole front panel and one side panel and the accessories (basically a "scratch and dent") but Antec has been so kind as to send me replacements.SarverSystems said:$20 for a P180? Link???
...Once the bracket is removed, you'll need to get 2 small washers and place them over 2 fan screws. Only the 2 bottom fan screws are needed to hold the fan in place, but if you wanted all 4, just drill out to holes where the top 2 fan holes would line up.
You can see the 2 screws here:
On the inside of the case, in the lower chamber, if your fan is too thick, you'll never get the hard drive cage to slide back in. Mine is a VERRRRRRY tight fit, but it DOES slide back in place. I opted to leave it out to conserve weight and access the fan easier. My hard drive is mounted in the fan controller anyways, so no need for the lower cage.
sorry to bump such an old thread, but does anyone still have the original pics? I searched on google couldn't find any similar pics. Thanks.
Instead of bumping a thread of months ago you could've easily used common sense and found this, no offense:
