Apple Gets Patent for 5D Technology

Thank goodness that no one's gotten around to 6D yet. I'm going to patent it first and then I'm going to divide by two to revolutionize the technology industry.

Looks like some guy, with a mug of coffee, watching porn movies, while taking a shower, with some hand-job glove.

Really...?!

How is this different from motion tracking already used to convert human movement into animation?

There is nothing wrong with your pc monitor. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling the internet. For the next hour we will control all that you see and hear. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to the Apple zone.

Ok screw this, I'm making the new patent rules, start with if you get granted a patent it is only contingent on you bringing a product to market that uses said technology within 2 years.

Apparently our patent office has gotten so deep into batshit insane they don't even know what is real and what is clearly bs. What happened to the days where you had to demonstrate a working concept before you could actually patent it.

Sorry, my bad. I patented the idea of using working concepts to obtain a patent. Since then, companies have been avoiding getting their concepts to work before getting a patent.

Now time for Apple to sit back and wait for someone else to invent it and successfully bring it to market, and then sue them.

That is not 5D or anything else even close...

All it is is a wireless controller with multiple sensors.

If that is Apple's definition of 5D, then it isn't just the Apple customers drinking the Apple Kool-aide.

What exactly is the number 500 referring to in the illustration

I knew it. It's a porn simulator.

Wait...
Apple thinks the technology may replace keyboards, according to the patent application. Additionally, the screen material could be made out of anything, which led Apple to dream up the suggestion of a front screen made of Kevlar. The user can shoot bullets at the screen and the computer would calculate where bullets land and at what force -- something that can be used by shooting ranges.

Make it now!

iShoot

Serious, they do need to change the rule of patent. In order to apply for the patent, you should need at least a prototype or something. Anyone can just put their idea on paper, then wait for someone to develop it and sue. This is getting ridiculus.

Seems they're taking multiple technologies, combining them and patenting the package.

Can you patent a home theater system?

anyone else notice how poorly drawn that was and how many spelling errors there are?

You never do, theres a load of completely stupid patents which will never have a product. AFAIK you only have to prove it actually works if it's challenged.

This patent will be used to squash the patents on things like:

Reality, human existence that also shares 5 dimensions with Apple products
and anything else that could be loaded into a lawyers mouth for some talking
points.

With that said, +1 to 34DD

I think the problem with Apple is that they are patenting things that seem like random IDEAS or THOUGHTS.

I swear, Apple will get a patent for ANYTHING as long as there is even a chance it'll actually be created by someone (e.g. not them) in the next 20 years. Some janitor in a school in New Mexico comes up with some idea and they patent it. They don't actually care if its a viable product, they just want to get their hands in it now so they can sue somebody at some point for creating something.

I mean, I'm betting that a good 95% of Apples patents are things they have no interest in creating or have no idea on how to actually even begin creating.

Apple has become the exact same thing as Uniloc...patent trolls, pure and simple.

I'd really like to know how they managed to utilize the space-time continuum/relativity and the 5th dimension which is still hypothetical physics with numerous theories.

RTFA. Apple bought the patent from someone else.

Isn't that what RightHaven or whatever that patent troll company does? They buy patents and then go after potentially infringing companies through litigation. Given the information in the article, Joe calling that particular practice out as a potential patent trolling action. We haven't seen if Apple intends to begin pressing lawsuits yet, but the ingredients are certainly in place at this point.
