I'm upgradeing my motherboard from a cheapo... which had single channel ram and has what i can only describe as crappy chipset... it would give me problems with crap that nothing else would. Here are my selections... Which one is the better one and has the best compatibility with this ram..

ASUS P5P43TD/USB3

or
GA-EP43T-USB3

They are goign to be pared with this ram.
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277

Looking for something to OC my Q9550 when the time is needed when i upgrade my video card. I currently only have an 8800gt. I need soemthing before they quit makeing Decent 775 MB's.
Thanks

The only thing I don't like about those boards is that neither has a heatsink on the VRMs. It's an easy remedy, though, there are some cheapo copper heatsinks on Newegg you can stick on them.

As for the RAM compatibility, you will have to up the FSB to run the RAM at the full 1600 speed, but I don't know of any 775 board that can run that speed at stock FSB.

So really, either board would be fine. I think the Asus one look prettier though. :D

Hi, Sathsayin,

You might want to consider G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-4GBRL as an alternative.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. My wife picked the ASUS for me cuz of that very reason... As far as the Vrm Goes.. Is there a better socket 775 motherboard out there. What does the VRM do?

As far as the ram goes. I read something about DDR3 boards after 1000 mhz are something for LGA 775 don't really make a diffrence as the Cpu can't take care of it.. So would that make this ram here.. faster for my system because of the lower timeing?

IDK, there may be "better" in some ways, but they're all, in reality, gonna be about the same. :)

The VRMs are the voltage regulator modules, they clean up the power going to the CPU. The faster the CPU runs, the more they have to work, and the hotter they get. You would have to put something like these on them to keep them cool: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708011

As for the RAM, I don't know if you have bought it yet, but I have never ever ever seen where RAM speed was the limiting factor in any program (real-world apps), so 1333 would be great. Also, the lower the timings, the better.

thx for the info.. Im gonna get that ram. I appreciate the info on the vrm's Ill defitenly be buying them before I overclock and probably when they frist come back in stock

No, it is almost identical, save for a few minor changes (doesn't support CrossfireX, for example). It's just a lower-cost P45.
