I have a spare Motorola 2210-02-1002 (Southwest SBC region modem)

Does anyone know if these can be used in the Bellsouth regions? Where the 2210-02-1006 are shipped?

I doubt it, usually modems are specific to their provider. MY SBC Modem didn't work for me when I switch to different providers. Maybe you will get lucky though.

In most cases a DSL modem is a DSL modem. You just have to change the settings to work with your new carrier, which is normally just authentication.

If you know how to get right in and change the PPPoE credentials...."yes"
If you don't know how to get in and change those....and you need to use the software CD with the hand holding setup wizard.."no"..because those will take you to the intranet site "wallgarden" for your account setup, which is different for each ISP.

Hardware wise...DSL modems are DSL modems, there's no specific "provisioning" of them like cable ISPs do. But with newer models with all their setup wizard software..that's what makes them more specific.
