Barton 2600+ - can you use PC3200 memory w/o overclocking?

Im pretty sure you can run the memory at ddr400 while the cpu is at a 333mhz fsb, but if i remember correctly you get better performance having them run in sync at 333.
 
i don't recall any socketA boards with >1:1 ratios.. but yes, anything async kills performance anyhow :(
