is there a method to automatically add windows users from a list to a linux domain server? if using 2k3 server instead would work better we can do that too.

basically, we want to add accounts for a large number of students from a list without typing all the names in individually. how should we go about this?

also, would administration of said accounts be easier/better from a windows domain server or a linux domain server?

thanks.

Yes, it's possible, let me look up the commands.

edit: Command line info.

dsadd is the base command.

edit2: sheesh, didn't read the fucking question right... I was reading it as the other way around, sorry.

oh, also it is w2k domain server vs. 2k3 domain server. not linux.

thought it was linux because most of the servers (and computers) are, but it is 2k server. might be terminal server.

i think we have a way to do it with net user, but that is gonna be a PITA to put into a batch file (no idea how to parse a file in a batch... in windows anyways. we could do it in linux :/)

all this cause the principle decided she wants XP boxes (after linux has been working as the OS of choice for 2? 3? years now). gah. oh well. XP can still fold...

yeah, dsadd doesn't look like the right thing. thanks for trying tho.
