Ok, some how I manage to fry my cpu and a stick of memory.
Only way Im typing this is by running my e6400 at minimum clock and multi settings(1.6ghz)

The motherboard is fine, and actually the cpu is priming away with no problems at it's current speed. So Im upgrading my computer and handing this one down to my sister.

My budget is fairly tight, I'm not looking for top of the line brand spanking new technology. Im done spending top dollar for tech that's obsolete in a month, but I do want faster than what I currently have.

I do overclock, so I heard the e8400 is the way to go to for getting the most bang for your buck. It's also fairly cheap so it leaves me with a few pennies to save for the future quad cores.

Motherboards, im clueless. I never had a problem with Asus, had them for years, only fried one board of the 4 Ive owned.

Here are my choices.
ASUS P5Q-E

ASUS P5Q3

Only difference is the DDR3 support. Is DDR3 really worth the extra $$$?

No? not worth the extra money?
Guess DDR3 is good for Core i7 only?

Ya know, that mobo was the one i was going to buy before i posted, i forgot to add it to the list.

Im not an extreme overclocker. Ill probably just push the 8400 to 8600 speeds.

You kinda have me going for that gigabyte tho. I really like that intergrated OS.

Of the Asus mobo right? Thats one of the big features I like about the Asus P5Q Pro.
