Brothers site is a nightmare.
I am looking for an LED Printer. This is not a LASER Printer.
It needs to be b/w and MFP.
Do they make one? If not who does with the same specs?

As far as I can tell, Brother's B&W line of MFC devices is all based on laser. Their color lineup is based on LED.

From a bit of looking around through the Newegg search engine, Amazon, etc., if it absolutely needs to be B&W and absolutely needs to be LED, you are limited to MFCs from Okidata.

The 30 ppm MB451w MFC model can be had for as little as $138.

The 35 ppm MB471w MFC model can be had for around $420.

I would assume the 471 is a more rugged model that can handle a heavier workload. It's actually kind of difficult to tease out the difference between LED and Laser on most sites as far as I can tell. Okidata doesn't make it terribly clear on their product pages. Newegg has it right in the title of these products that they are LED printers. If you look at the same MB471 model at Staples, however, they just call it a laser printer.

I thank you DesertCat for a very informative answer.
Finding info on LED printers was hard to come by for me.

Hi DesertCat,
Just info. Since you were so kind, I wanted to tell you what I did.
Bought the Oki MB451 mfc b/w LED Printer.
Directions look very complicated.
All caused by a whole lot of abbreviations which I know nothing about.
Will take it 1 step at a time. They talk a lot about downloading a lot of
drivers. What I don't understand is why they are not on the DVD to fit
the printer. I will use it in the home and with no network.
The Fax function is a bit of a nightmare but I guess I will finally
get it solved.
Thing is larger than the HP officejet pro L7580 and weighs about 50 lbs.
Looks sturdy and well made. Time will tell.
Thanks

Thanks for the follow up. Sorry to hear the drivers and setup are a bit of a hassle. Sounds like they have some good hardware but need some work on the friendliness of the software side of things. I think that is the case with many brands of MFP devices because there are so many functions (copier, fax, printer, networking to pcs, etc. hope it all works out for you,

Best I can tell is the Oki MB451w takes 220v. I don't have any 220v connection
in the house. It is Model# MB451w Model # n22207b.
According to the specs this is for 220v.
Who ever heard of a printer using 220 volts.
I haven't plugged it in yet so no harm to the printer but the hassle of taking
it back etc......
Yuk....

Made a call to Oki support and 99% of my problems were solved.
Generally I am very pleased with the printer.
Sturdy, price can't be beat for a printer of this quality.

If I would gripe about this printer it would be the documentation.
As always there is always room for improvement.
These documentations are always bundled for several machines,
which makes sorting the one you have out more difficult.
There is no shortage of documentation.
