So Semi Accurate posted a article bashing the power requirements of Fermi (nothing new here), however He raised a good point. The card is said to require a >600W 12v 42a rail. The Corsair HX1000 has dual 40a 12v rails... so am I correct in believing that this 1000w PSU won't be able to handle a Fermi 480? If not.. total suckage..

Wrong.

That's 42A on the +12V rail combined. The Corsair 1000HX has 80A on the +12V rail combined. Plenty of power for a Fermi base card.

Also note that the 42A rating is for the system + GPU. Not just the GPU itself.

No need to worry, your 1000W PSU will handle Fermi just fine.

Basically what that is saying is that if you buy a 600W power supply, it's recommended you have 504W (42A) available for your entire PC on the 12V rail(s). Fermi by itself likely won't be using more then half that at 252W (21A) on the 12V rail(s).
