Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro PCIe Installation issue

I knew that there were driver troubles with this card when i got it but i suppose i severely underestimated the extent of the issue. It shows up as "High Definition Audio Device" no matter what drivers I try to install. Creative support has been worthless. I feel like ive tried everything to make this work, and in doing so somehow managed to screw my system up to the point of having to reformat to get any sound device to work. So here i am, im a fresh start and I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to what I can do.

Many thanks in advance, this has devoured hours and hours of my time, so its either something really simple or its something evil and way too complicated
