So I've got an odd situation here. Windows 7.

I have a disk that thinks it's an OS disk but I never installed an OS on it. However windows won't let me format it and insists that I include it in any system backups.

The current setup I have is.

  1. 128GB SSD - New Win 7
  2. 500GB Disk - Old Win 7
  3. 1TB Disk - Media files
  4. 1TB External - Media Files

Now the issue is that when I boot to the new Win 7 using #1, then #3 is considered a system drive and I can't format it. When I boot up to #2 then #4 is considered a system drive and required when creating a system recovery, but #3 is not visible to the OS.

This is the view from #1

I found this:

There are a total of 2 entries listed in the bootloader.

Default: Windows 7
Timeout: 30 seconds
Boot Drive: F:\

Entry #1
Name: Windows 7
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Entry #2
Name: Windows 7 Ultimate (recovered)
BCD ID: {8d080d20-a42f-11df-a5d1-eb9a760c8459}
Drive: D:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Then using EasyBCD I fixed it...

There are a total of 2 entries listed in the bootloader.

Default: Windows 7
Timeout: 30 seconds
EasyBCD Boot Device: C:\

Entry #1
Name: Windows 7
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

Entry #2
Name: Windows 7 - Mechanical Disk
BCD ID: {8d080d20-a42f-11df-a5d1-eb9a760c8459}
Drive: D:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

However the problem still persists.
