Dual boot vista question about partitions

I think I'm going to give vista a shot but I'm trying to figure out whether or not I can create a partition on a slave drive and have vista run off it from there. I have a 60gig IDE drive I use for XP and about 175 gigs free space on a SATA drive. I wanted to create the partition on the sata drive since creating one on my XP drive wouldn't give me much space for either.
 
nevermind, got it to work fine after I figured out I couldn't partition a dynamic drive. Works great on my tertiary sata drive.
