DVI to HDMI ???

I try to not ask too many questions but ...

I have an ASUS 3450 video card - sub-D and DVI outputs. And I have a TV with sub-D and HDMI inputs.

If I use the sub-D connectors, everything works well.

If I use the DVI output and the HDMI input and turn my TV off (The computer is always on.), I think the video card shuts down.

To get the video going again I need to push the power button, wait for 30 seconds - for an audible clunk, and then push any key on the keyboard. The video comes on and a warning about the network not being found is displayed. It is almost as if the computer fell asleep, but the computer is being accessed across the network.

The power settings includes neither sleep or hibernation. (WindowsXP)

I would like the DVI-HDMI connection to act like the normal sub-D to sub-D connection where the video never shuts off and turning the TV on brings up the expected computer screen with no need to push buttons.

I have used the Catalyst drivers to change the monitor/TV detection settings but to no avail. But I may have missed something.

I appreciate any help.
