Homeworld is a masterpiece of a game. Though, the mechanics in the original release are better than those in the remastered version, as the remastered versions run on the Homeworld 2 engine, which left-out some more advanced mechanics from the first game - though Gearbox retroactively added some things back in patches for HW1 remastered, it's still not at the level of the original release. And the UI functionality is better in the original release than in the remaster, where various HW1 functions are broken and Gearbox never bothered addressing them with patches. The remaster collection includes the original games, and I typically play those instead of the remastered versions.
