Hi,

Does anyone here know if importing PST files into exchange takes up less space than the PST on its own?

PST = 1 GB
Imported file size = 900MB

Thanks

Depending on the format of the PST the size can change.

If you create a PST in outlook 2000 and import it to exchange 2010 yes the size will change. You need to look at item count.

Also depending on what you set your bad item limit to, some items may not import

Are you talking about doing a conversion to OST, or just using the Exchange server in POP3 mode?

Are you still running Outlook 2000? (why?) or have you upgraded to something more recent? Starting in O2003 (I think) you could convert a PST file to a format where you could exceed 2 GB in total file size without any issues. With the old format, if you exceeded 2 GB, you had massive data corruption.
