....at the same time

I found a few that have support for both usb and ethernet but none that can handle it at the same time.

I have a non-network device that accepts an external usb HD like a WD MyBook. I would like to share the data on the external drive with the rest of the network.

Is there any kind of possible solution to this? I would love to have something standalone like a NAS and would like to avoid running a computer to accomplish it.

Thanks

Don't the Buffalo Stations do that? Its on the network but you can access the USB port on it at same time via network. Not totally for sure on that though.

I'd be surprised to see any consumer-level device that supported this. The Ethernet interface means there's a little embedded chip inside accessing the drive, reading and writing to a filesystem on the drive and servicing SMB or CIFS or whatever requests. Trying to access that same filesystem at the same time over USB is a recipe for disaster unless the filesystem is designed with simultaneous access in mind.
