Can I run my proc at a different speed then my ram these days? Natural deduction leads me to believe this is a none issue but I figured I would ask those who will be more then happy to school my butt if needed ;)

The combo I'm putting together all from Newegg:

ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Item #: N82E16813131196

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6750 - Retail
Item #: N82E16819115029

CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-8500C5D - Retail
Item #: N82E16820145043

The mobo clearly states memory at 1066 but the FSB can do either 1066 or 1333. I went with the 1333 core hoping this would not either force me to OC the ram or downtune the proc. Am I an old washed up hack or did I figure out a safe combo?

Actually, the FSB is 4xthe bus speed, whereas DDR is 2xthe bus speed.

So DDR2-1066 is designed to work with a 533 MHz bus, while a CPU with a 1333 MHz FSB will run on a 333 MHz bus by default. Thus the RAM will also run at 333 MHz. However, if you managed to get your bus speed to 533 MHz, your RAM would support it. Whether your other components can is up in the air.
