G3 not booting giving a "?"

We have a G3 running 9.22 in my office that will not boot. When turn on the computer a folder icon appears on the screen. The icon alternates between the finder icon and a "?".

What does this mean?

That's what I figured.. I assumed it was a problem with the startup so I just re-installed the OS.

You might want to do a hardware checkup on the hard drive, just in case. Sometimes the hard drive gets corrupted by hardware error.

Or the drive has physically aged too much
