Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4 doesnt overclock, help!

I just got the Gigabyte GA-M55SLI-S4 with an AMD X2 3800+ and G Skill DDR2 800 2GB ram, in a Sonata II case. When I try to overclock, making sure to go the same route as a 939 overclock I get an error at the BIOS post:

Warning! CPU overclocked! 250 mhz

And then it restarts, and then says skipping the overclock. My HTT is set to 3x, my ram set to DDR2 400 @ 2.1v, CPU set @ 1.35v and 250fsb.

Silly thing is, when set lower it posts and goes into windows. What's going on here?

could it be possible that the motherboard just sucks?

Yeah... it looked so well made. It seems like it was DESIGNED to fuck up at 250. I returned it and got a K9N NeoF instead.
