HDTV has a chipped screen now

tonight something hit my screen and left a small chip in the glass. will this be a issue down the road?
 
Yeah, post a pic.

I doubt it woul dbe a problem, the glass is so damn thick up front usually.
 
What type of HDTV? If plasma then you may have a problem.

If it's a plasma wouldn't it be plastic and not glass for the surface? I don't think they use glass on projections sets and flat panel displays.

Plasmas use glass fronts and LCD panels are usually plastic faced. Plasmas usually have a treated front much like a CRT monitor. When he said chip I thought plasma immediately.
