Help an audio newbie!

I am thinking about getting a 5.1 system for my computer with a receiver. I currently have this sound card...

Would anyone recommend this 5.1 setup?

Based upon the specs and such I think it's a good system for what I want, but I could be wrong... I use my computer to game, watch movies and listen to music. Also I would imagine I could output to the receiver from my sound card via optical... am I correct in assuming this?

Passive subwoofers are lame. The front and center speakers also look too small to provide any decent midrange.

You definitely want a system with an active sub, especially for movies.
