so you guys probably know about how intel can do 3-2-2 and AM2 can't because it doesn't support trcd 2 or trp 2?

well, straight from an AMD tech document, AM2 supports CAS2 :confused:

1. Determine all CAS latencies supported by each installed DIMM, defined in SPD byte 18. One bit
corresponds to each supported CAS latency. SPD byte 18 specifies CAS latencies with which
devices on the DIMM can reliably operate. BIOS should not assume that a device can operate
with either slower or faster CAS latency than those specified by the SPD. The DRAM controller
is designed to support CAS latencies 2, 3,4, 5 and 6.

Is there any DDR2 RAM that'll do CAS2?
i'll check to be certain, but i don't believe it's even a real timing, kinda like how cas1.5 was for ddr1..

edit - so far:

micron = cas3 through 6 supported, no 1/2 steps.
samsung = cas3 through 5, but implies support for 6 later in document
qimonda (infineon/aeneon) = ...3 though 6 again..
elpida = annoying trend here

i think i'm gonna have to get in touch with an engineer at micron and ask his opinion on why amd chose to support cas2.. if they even did and if it's not just a typo :rolleyes: :p
