I think my MCE 2005 remote is dead, need 2nd opinions

Yesterday, I was using it just fine...then it just stopped working. Any button I push would not have any effect. The red light on the MCE receiver would not illuminate when buttons are pushed. The back lighting on the remote doesn't happen when any buttons are pushed (at least I thought it was supposed to back light).

I've tried rebooting MCE. I've tried moving the receiver to another usb port. I've tried brand new batteries in the remote...nothing has worked.

I would assume that at least new batteries would get the back lighting to occur...showing that something in the remote was working.

Any other suggestions?
 
I had read on the Green Button that there was a 5min trick...

It just so happens that I pulled the batteries out after I made my post. 40 min later, it works. unreal. I've had this remote for about a year and it just now happens.

You can also reverse the battery direction of both battery inputs, leave for a few seconds, and put them in correctly. That works for me.
