Bios temp says 25c, realtemp says 38c. TR Veno X w/ Noctua P12 push

Isn't bios temp usually always higher since everything is running near full blast? I can't imagine that an i7 can idle that low either.

I'm thinking to hell with bios temp, use realtemp. Opinions?

I don't think the BIOS reads the core temperatures, only the CPU die.

You might want to check out this thread, especially with comparing BIOS idle to OS idle.

The core sensors that Intel uses on the Core i7-900 series tend to be extremely accurate, especially core 0. I'd trust that more than any temperature number reported by the bios.

What RealTemp reports and what the bios reports are coming from totally different sensors and are not directly comparable. Motherboard manufacturers can change the offset with different bios versions so the bios reading might change in the future with an updated bios.
