This may be a stupid question but I have to ask. Is there any motherboard that will run an i7 950 with DDR3 1600 memory without overclocking? I thought I read somewhere that you can set the QPI in the motherboard bios to 6.4 and run DDR3 1600 with an i7 950 without overclocking.

If you can't, what's the fastest memory I could run with an i7 950? BIG thanks in advance to everyone willing to take the time to help/comment!

You can run your RAM at 1600MHz without overclocking with an i7 920 so I don't think you need any special motherboard to do it with a 950...

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, you escalate the memory divider to 1600 speeds, the clock speeds shouldn't change. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)

Yes, at default 133MHz BCLK you just need to change the memory multiplier to 12. Also remember to make sure your DRAM voltage is set to whatever it's rated to run at because it'll probably be lower than that by default when running in 1066MHz mode.

What board do you have? My Gigabyte board you set the ram to profile 1 and that runs it at 1600

That's good news that I can use DDR3 1600mhz with an Intel i7 950 cpu without overclocking either one. I've got my eye on 12 gigabytes of memory with tight timings.
