LG W2252TQ

These are the results from Everest Home Edition. I really do like this monitor and what it offers. I do have some banding even with contrast at 70, but I am taking this back because I have 3 dead pixels out of the box!!! I know that 3 dead pixels isn't much, but its the banding that has me concerned. It is miniscule, but it is there. I don't notice any of the banding while in games (CS, Assassins Creed, COD4, etc.) or movies. This monitor is one of my favorite LCD's to date.

http://www.behardware.com/articles/6...-3rd-wave.html Here is some info about input lag in games. http://www.digitalversus.com/duels.php?ty=6 I just compared a 5ms Acer with my 2ms Samsung 2232BW and the 5ms has better response times! Presently I have a LG W2252TQ and the Samsung 2232BW(CMO screen) and the LG is much better on this test. I'll be bringing the Samsung back to Best Buy for a full refund and keeping the LG for now. The only drawback to my LG is the 700:1 static contrast but I booted these two monitors up in horizantal span mode (one virtual monitor displayed on both screens and and played ArmA (night scenes) ,COD4 (night scenes) and Swat 4 and I saw everything just as well on the LG even though it has less static contrast ratio than the Samsung! I was able to get the Samsung color calibrated so that the non Samsung panel inside wasn't a prob but this input lag is important since I am a FPS gamer! This is about it on my monitor adventure. The Samsung was returned and I discovered the LG that I bought last week at Best Buy was on sale today so they price matched 54 dollars back to me today making my final cost 269.00 for the LG Flatron W2252TQ! The less spent while they perfect this technology the better!

Anyone know why I can't get the fortemanager or nvidia display optimization wizard to work because of DVI cable instead of VGA?

I just picked one up today, and am very satisfied with it. Great vibrant colors. HD videos and gaming (so far tried COD4 and TF2) are pure sex on this monitor.

curtagain,

Make sure you download version 2.8 and not 3. It should work with DVI because it's working for me!

Hmm,I've actually been using this without Forte manager and it looks great. Do you think it's worth the download and application? Thanks for the input. Great monitor as long as they don't make revisions that detract!

any comments? The Samsung T220 would seem to be the best bet according to this site.

I mostly use this monitor for gaming and some web surfing/general use. At the time of my purchase this review wasn't available. I honestly have no problems with the color rendering of mine. I use it with Windows XP DirectX9 with no plans to switch to Vista.I'll wait for a DirectX10 fix for XP or the next OS! I am more than happy with how everything looks so far. If you notice at the end of this article the author says "If you are looking for the most reactive screen of the moment, this is it; however, you will have to make some concessions in color fidelity. The W2252TQ works for me and I'm not being botttlenecked when I multiplayer game online . Final cost for me after tax was $269.00. You've got to do your homework and compare performance, price and keep in mind we all may be upgrading sooner than we think as this technology is perfected. If your considering the Samsung check out this link FYI: http://www.bcchardware.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4259&Itemid=40

What kind of color banding issue are you getting? Don't own a W2252TQ, but just curious.

that is 1:1 pixel mapping.
I have a feeling he meant bars on the left and right sides, so it's possibly not 1:1 pixel mapping...

I honestly have no color issues with mine at default. I'm not sure what banding is.I only experimented with the color profile cause this reviewer http://www.digitalversus.com/article-358-3450-35.html
seems to think the default color is terrible. He may be used to some other color variation (like looking through rose colored glasses). I certainly don't think the color is a deal breaker.

so does this monitor have 1:1 pixel mapping because im going to be using it for xbxo 360 mainly.

Yeah that's 1:1 mapping. It just means that when images aren't stretched or anything, so you get the black bars. It's all the same :p

Anyway I've had my 2252TQ for a month now, no problems. I had a Samsung 2253bw before it but I took it back due to the humming at low contrast + terrible blue dominance. The colours on the LG are way easier to calibrate, and I haven't noticed any problems with the panel itself yet. The body isn't built as well as the Samsung's however; no VESA sockets and a few scratches/dings on the plastic.

I did that banding test from a few pages ago @ contrast:70 and didn't noticed any banding, thankfully.

As to the Samsung T220, I don't even think it's available in Canada right now, and the info on it was nothing but rumours when I bought the LG.

I bought a W2252TQ from Fry's but it didn't come with the DVI cable. There were no dead or stuck pixels. The horizontal viewing angle is pretty good for a TN panel but white will turn to a slight pink. If I stand up, I can still see the screen very well. If I duck below the desk then the screen is too dark to read, but that viewing angle would never be used anyway.

I do notice a blue tint to it while I have the white point set to 6500.

Check out the backlight bleed on the T220:

I took mine back today and replaced it with a 2232BW (has a Samsung panel) and it's MUCH better in that regard, also got £40 back in my pocket. Was really torn between the 2232BW and the W2252TQ which was also there, but I'd heard about issues with the LG having worse than average viewing angles. Hearsay, but there you go!

General use and racing games is my interest. That it's not the fastest kid on the block doesn't bother me, I think it'll do. Unlike Digital Versus, I did notice a bit of ghosting when setting RTC to 2 on the T220. Occurred when scrolling black text up a white document background. Nothing alarming, just wanted to point out that it's not perfect!

Oh, and for what its worth - the Samsungs came with both DVI and VGA cables. I'm based in UK, YMMV!

I've had this monitor for a couple of days now, overall I'm pretty happy with it but I'm having trouble finding settings I like (plus this ones got alot more that I'm use to) . Can some members post the settings they're using for this monitor? It would be greatly appreciated.

And is it just my monitor (granted this is my first LCD), but I notice that the colors are darker
at eyesight level and above, and lighter below eyesight level. This changes if I lower my head towards the bottom of the screen (now the bottom of the screen is at eyesight level), but who wants to use a computer with their chin on the desk?

Take care all.
