I've grown tired of my tiny soltek 3401 (I want more room and better cooling), but I am short on money for an all-out upgrade now. I'm pretty sure that I could transplant my soltek's guts (minus power supply) into a normal ATX case (like an SLK3800), but just want to be sure. Current motherboard is 180mm x 260mm.

yeah they fit just fine. You'll just use two horizontal rows of standoffs instead of all three.

Not always, some boards require 1-3 additional standoffs on the edge where the PCI slots are for proper support.

Fint, just be sure to get a case that states it supports Micro-ATX boards as well as regular ATX boards and you'll be fine.
