Im looking at buying a Dell Inspiron 9100 with a 3.2ghz, wsxga , 512mb ram, 60gb hd, etc. I wanted to get the 9800 but for an extra 359, is it that much better than the 128mb 9700. Will the 9700 run good for most of the updated games right now like doom 3, farcry, CS Source, etc ? Would this setup be good? What do you recommend?

is that even a question? 9800 Pro for sure! :D

He's talking about mobility radeons.. not regular radeons...

Anyhow I dont remember, there's a [H] review on the 9800 and the 9700 mobolity, I'd suggest checking them out.

If my memory isn't off, the 9700 is in fact a 9600 (4 pipe), while the 9800 is a X800 with 8 pipes. The latter is much faster.

I do not know if it has 8 pipes but yes it is faster and worth it to get the 9800

yeah the 9700 is 4 piped and basically a faster faster 9600.

The 8 pipe 9800 smokes it.

The 9700PRO have 8 pipelines exactly like the 9800PRO, the main difference between those cards is the core 9800PRO (R350, MSI-R360), 9700PRO (R300) and clock speeds.
BTW, the X800PRO has 12 pipelines!
