At the request of a client, I upgraded one of their in-house built workstations.

We went with 32GB ECC memory, unbuffered and an AMD Firepro W8000.

The Firepro W8000 came from Canada from a company that deals with nothing but Dell parts. The card came with a odd looking back plate that exteded to the rear maybe 3 - 4", I'm guessing this is a rack mount feature?

After reading the online PDF, AMD says this backplate can be removed. Which I did which in tern allowed the card to be installed.

My problem is with the Firepro drivers from AMD.com. They install with no errors but there is no video driver installed, no catalyst, nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

You're probably going to have to get the drivers from Dell's website. I had an issue like that with an old Compaq video card that wouldn't use regular nVidia drivers.

The video card they had in the system before was an oldskool 5780 I think. I cleaned out the drivers with DDU in safe mode. I actually didn't get a chance to download the dell package drivers for that card. Their internet speed is horrrid.

I have them now and will hopefully be able to get them installed this Monday
