Curious if you guys could help me out. This is going to my first computer that I am going to be making. I previously have a Dell Dimension from like 3-4 years ago. I would like to try and scrap as many parts as I can out of that and try to use them for the new PC. I have mixed feelings on a case but this is what I'm thinking about so far.

Desktop:
Q6600
Intel Board that comes with it.
2g DDR2
Graphics: Not sure yet. Trying to get something basic that I can play COD4 on and a few other games FEAR and etc. But nothing crazy.
Drive: Would like to try and have a few of these. One for Music, One for Videos/TV, one for the OS and one for Games maybe. So I was thinking: Music 320gb Sata, Video 500gb Sata, OS 100-200gb Sata, and a Raptor maybe but don't really see the big deal.
DVD burner/CD rom
Windows Vista Ultimate x32 or XP pro

Old Computer Dell:
2.4 Pentium 4HT
1.5gb memory
HD: 1x80 for the OS, 1IDE 200gb for movies/tv shit, Externals: 1x250 gb for music, 1x120gb used for papers& shit
DVD burner/DVD rom drive
Soundblaster Audigy 2
GeForce FX 5200

So my question to all of you is, what items can I scrap and what do I badly need to replace. Any recommendations on some graphic cards without blowing the budget. As for a case I was looking at the Antec 900 for upgrading capability, but will gladly take other options.

Thanks

Are you buying from Fry's electronics? Most Q6600's don't come with a motherboard.

Sell this locally (as in craigslist) You should get 150.00-175.00 with a fresh install OS

The package is from Retail Edge, and I sorta wanna keep the computer and use it as a backup or give it to the little bro.

Since there won't be any overclocking (Intel boards don't overclock) value ram is good. DDR2-667 will work for all boards, and all you need is your case.

thanks for the great info. Thinking of getting the Antec 900, any one have opinions on this case?

if you don't mind rebates, here are 2 cheap yet good video cards. Any higher and you should be looking at the 3850.

$110 - CHAINTECH GSE86GT-A1 GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - Retail ($30MIR) (I currently own it, OC'd to 640/790) (too bad the XFX deal is gone )
$143 - VisionTek Radeon X1950PRO XGE 256MB HD Video Card ($50MIR)
