for anyone who doesnt know yet, there is a good deal on a 5-bay qnap nas here. i am trying to decide whether i should stick with my plan to build my own box in the next few months, or just go with this. i love the features, but am put off by the price. a DIY box will of course be much cheaper but need a lot more work. i want to be able to access it from multiple computers both local and not, as well as from my smartphone. i will be backing up each drive individually to external drives every month or so. what do you guys think? expensive and easy or cheap but lots of work?
