I JUST got this drive, installed windows on it and planned to use it as a primary boot drive. Tested the speed several times now and get lower results than my 2 year old 840 EVO. What is going on?

850PRO 256 GB gets roughly 375/325 Read/Write. Its supposed to be above 500 in both tests.
While my 840EVO gets 390/365 on average.

Seriously, am I missing something here? Everything is plugged into 6GB ports, normal operations seem fine, but benching it with these results makes me want to return it and be done with Samsung altogether.

Any ideas?

should be better.
both numbers seems off for both drives
point me to suspect hardware in your machine or bios/software isnt optimal.

Oh my, I cant believe I made such a rookie mistake.

My motherboard has 10 6GB SATA ports, all red color. I assumed they were all working off of the z87 controller, but after doing some quick digging I discovered the 4 ports on the left work off a completely separate controller, and the 6 on the right (6 top most) work directly off the Z87.

Back to 562/532 RW on the 850PRO.

Funny thing is Asus never specified on the motherboard itself which work off of which, since they are all the same color. It would have to be dug up in the manual. Hopefully this will be of some help to others.
