New DSM Update for Synology Users (4.2)

There's already some pretty noticeable improvements over the beta, like SMB 2 support is in and operational, SMB transfers I used to get fluctuating in the 10-40MB/s range are now clocking along at around 80MB/s average, occasional dips down to 30-40 but more consistent at 70-90. I'm currently doing a 1TB file over SMB then will do some iSCSI tests and post results.

Some benches for 2x DS1512+ in a HA cluster

1TB file copy to SMB 2 share:

Some CrystalMark benches to an iSCSI target of varying sizes:

Doing a 1TB file copy to iSCSI target, starts out good but seems to drop pretty drastically after the first 20GB or so...

Does anyone know if there's a secure erase tool on the synology boxes? Just wondering if there's an easy way to clear a drive prior to selling it without having to pop it into a separate box for DBAN. (Yeah, I know this is totally OT...)

It's just Linux underneath and you can install ipkg on it so while there's no GUI option to do that you should be able to from telnet/ssh
