That looks like a good build and should come in well under budget. For the PSU any quality, modern units will be fine. The HX620 (corsair) is popular if you want modular, the PCP&C 750, TX650 and TX750 are popular (and less expensive) non-modular units.

If you think you might run a 64 bit OS its probably worth snagging 8gb of ram now.

Double check that the 280 will fit in the P182 (IIRC it will interfere with one of the HD bays, but I could be wrong on that).

You haven't got a hard drive listed. There are lots of options depending on how fast you want to be, how much space you need and how reliable you need it to be. The WD6401AALS is a good drive that's pretty inexpensive, cool and fast. 2 of them in RAID-0 should give you 140-200mb speeds:)

From the pictures I have seen I will have to remove top HD bay in order for the GTX 280 to fix. No biggie. The p182 has a second area for HD. As for a HD I plan to go with only one. I want built a computer low on noise. I decided to with this

is this a good psu?

The Seagate 7200.12's are out. $65 on newegg and it fits all 500GB onto a single platter. Just something to consider. You could also pay a bit more for the caviar black drive. They perform very well.

Antec power supplies are alright, but that's a terrible price. I've heard good things about their EarthWatts series, but I still wouldn't put them on the top tier. PC Power & Cooling and Corsair are the top manufacturers in my opinion. The PPC500 could probably handle that for $70. If you want some more headroom for the future, Corsair has the 650TX on newegg for $99.99+$30 MIR. Much better choice than Antec.

heres my 2 cents;

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz $164.99 + free shipping
GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P43 $79.99
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 $39.99 + free shipping
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W $99.99 - $30 mir + free shipping
EVGA 896-P3-1255-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB $269.99 -$20 mir
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB $74.99 + free shipping
Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower $49.95
SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner Black SATA $23.99 + free shipping

Total: $803.88 + shipping - $50mir

Notes:
Case: different than the one u linked too but for good reason $49 vs.$179 and lots of room and excellent airflow
HD: $9 for another 140gigs
GPU: Amazing customer support and warranty. At this price the jump in $ to the 280 is not worth it for the marginal increase in performance.
PSU: Killer warranty, quality build, over 80% efficient and tonnes of power(52amps,
gpu asks for minimum of 36amps)
RAM: will overclock nicely if you decide to oc that cpu.
MOBO: Has all you need and will overclock nicely not to mention great bios support.
CPU: the e8400 will overclock nicely to 3.6 -4.0gig if you are so inclined. It will only hold you back if you are doing hardcore divx riping or codec conversion video editing. Even then its not much. But for a gaming platform it will crush.
I took out the aftermarket cpu cooler since you dont plan on overclocking, the stock cooler should be fine.

GL HF and post pics! :D

That's a HIGH CLASS and excellent PSU. However it is very expensive and considering your budget, not a good choice. If you can buy the PSU ASAP, I highly highly HIGHLY recommend getting this PSU:
PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W PSU - $100

Excellent choice at $100 but it's a sales price so get it soon.

hossdaddy's build is good but it neglects the fact that you already bought the GPU and that the GPU is not part of that $1000 budget. Here's what I recommend instead for a best bang for the buck build:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU - $190
Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L Intel P43 Motherboard - $80
G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ 2 x 2GB DDR2 800 RAM - $40
Western Digital WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $75
Corsair 650TX 650W PSU - $100 OR (Which ever one is still available at $100) PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W PSU - $100
Samsung SH-222F 22X DVD±R SATA DVD Burner - $26
Antec P182 ATX Case - $145
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle HSF - $37 & Thermalright LGA775 Bolt-Thru-Kit - $5
-----
Total: $698 plus tax and shipping.

I went with the Q6600 since it will help out with future games. More and more games nowadays are now taking advantage of quad-core CPUs. Left 4 Dead will and does utilizes the extra two cores on quad-core CPU. IIRC, the same CPU updates for L4D was or will be provided to TF2 as well. Far Cry 2, Assassin's Creed, Supreme Commander, Bioshock, and Mass Effect takes advantage of quad-core CPUs as well. So yeah, the Q6600 is a good choice. I wouldn't go witht the Q9550 right now since it's only 10% to 15% faster than the Q6600 yet costs $100 more. Not worth it IMO.

The WD6400AAKS is one of the fastest yet quietest hard drive out now. SilentPCReview.com highly recommended that drive:

Since you're not overclocking nor needed any sort of extra features, that DS3L mobo is a good fit. Since you still had room in your budget, I just added a HSF just for the hell of it.

Referring to the build above by Danny Bui, you could get a better quad-core like the Q9650 too and still stay well within your budget.

And for the price you are paying for that case, you can get this one for cheaper. It is larger and has superior cooling to boot.

FYI, OC'ing is easy, and that Q6600 would easily reach 3.2Ghz with a few minor changes in the BIOS.

Cases are subjective, go with what you like. Either the P182 or the Stacker 830 are both good choices (though I think the P182 is overpriced if it costs the same as the 830, lol).

do guys recommend an alternative to pc power and powercooling? I had the old 510 turbo cool and that psu was loud! I vowed never to pc power and powercooling again. Anyway here is my updated built

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor - $282.99
ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - $129.00
G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) - $49.00
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb - $74.00
Samsung SH-222F 22X DVD±R SATA DVD Burner - $23.99
Antec P182 Advanced Super Mid Tower Case - $119.00
Noctua NH-U12P 120mm SSO CPU Cooler - $59.00

total - 753.90 with shipping.

As for the powersupply I'm looking for that has a dedicated pci-e 8 and 6 pin for my GTX 280 as recommend by evga.

I did already. Go back to my last post and take a look at the 650TX. Another good choice would be the Corsair 750TX for $20 more. Oh and ditch the PI Black RAM. Not worth the extra $10.

Seasonics are typically the quietest of the bunch. They OEM many of the Corsair PSUs, as well as some Antecs and PC Power & Cooling units. Did you want a modular PSU?

For modular, check out the Corsair HX series, Silverstone ST60F and ST70F, and also the Seasonic M12 series.

If you don't want modular, the 750QUAD PC P&C is OEM'd by Seasonic, IIRC, and is on sale for $100 with an additional $15 MIR at Amazon. Its not like you need 700W, but damn... great deal. The Antec Earthwatts, and Corsair TX series are good alternatives.

No they don't. They'll power whatever single card you want just fine.

Read. I listed 3 other brands above. READ!

Corsair VX series are good, too, as well as Antec NeoPower; Enhance; Thermaltake Toughpower and Purepower RX; BFG LS and ES series; too many to list. The best bang for buck has already been listed earlier.

Dude, the 650TX comes with two 6+2Pin PCI-E connectors whereas the 750TX comes with 4 6+2Pin PCI-E connectors. The 6+2Pin ARE 8Pin PCI-E connectors. The +2 portion of those 6+2Pin can be removed, leaving a 6Pin PCI-E connector. So YES the 650TX and 750TX do come with a dedicated 6Pin and 8Pin PCI-E connector in a way.

@samven582, why not go with the Thermaright Ultra-120 eXtreme or the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 instead of the Noctua cooler? Also, you could go with the GA-EP45-DS3L and save some money, since you already have an NVIDIA card which negates the possibility of Crossfire on the P5Q Pro.

The Noctua performs on par with those other two, but the Xigmatek is the better option due to its price.
