NIST time servers...alternatives

I think it was last winter or so...we had a thread about time servers to set your w32time service to, I did a search for it..but no luck.

Anyways...a few posters in the thread mentioned an growing list of alternative time servers, any recollection?

I recommend and use http://www.pool.ntp.org, you can go through the links and get a pool that is specific to your region of the world.

I've been using "pool.ntp.org" for years and never once ran into an issue. "Pool" is an aliase for a collection of servers the resolve in a round robin fashion. If one fails, the next sync period you will be connected to another one.

Interesting to take the registry approach to it...I've always done it in my sleep at the command prompt on servers, "net time set...blah blah"

I'm just noticing more and more of the standard time servers are timing out...probably getting overloaded, and I'm looking for alternatives.

I've been using pool.ntp.org for years, but also I have a server in the pool because they needed servers. I thought I saw an article here recently where pool hit some huge number of servers providing the time.
