Ever since I upgraded the side fan on my CM690 to an apevia 120mm it has been a little noisy. When I pull the fan off the panel and just hold it in my hand its dead silent, and the one I have on the bottom and rigged in the 5.25" bay are both much quieter. Is there any reasonable way to quiet down side fans without drastic measures (ie. cutting the metal mesh out of the side panel)?

Have any of you used either product? Right now I cut up a piece of plastic mesh I had and rigged it to push the fan about 1/8" off the panel and that seemed to quiet it a bit, but I think also draws in air from inside the system (re-circulating hot air = bad).
