As payday draws closer, I've almost decided on my new card.

Until now, I've been an nVidia kind of person but am unbiased and don't mind making the switch either way.

So, then, what is an nVidia card that preforms similarly to the 9800Pro?

As per this graph, it looks like the Geforce 5900 Ultra is about in the same ballpark.

Thoughts?

i think that the FX5900XT is made to compare to the 9800 PRO, and i strongly believe most people would agree with me.

Geforce 6800 gets higher fps than 6800 ultra

uhh... what?

edit: oh.. thats really weird, but at that reso all those cards would be cpu limited.

Well Check the [H] reviews, 1024by768 is too low of a resolution to stress those cards right.

Check some D3D games, isn't Doom3 OGL? I never wanted to get it so I never cared and really still dont. But yea check the [H] reviews.

the 5900xt gets raped in all things by the 9800pro.

The 5900xt is worse than the 5900nu... and the NU gets raped too.

Yeah 5900U comes close...5950U is = or >.

For the price you'll pay for a 5900/5950U, you can get a 6800NU for about the same or a little more, which will beat the 9800 pro by a large margin...IMO, the 59xxU card would be a waste of money...the 6800 is the way to go.

i would say the 9800 pro is better than anything nvidia offered at the time. the competing nvidia card would be the 5900 ultra, not the 5900xt, which is good midrange card thats a little better than the 5700 ultra.

Right now at 200 bucks (what 9800 Pros go for) there isn't.

The 6800NU is better at 285~300 and the 6600gt SHOULD be when its available in agp at around 200 bucks.

The 9800 Pro spanks the 5950 Ultra in DX9 and all other 5900 series cards.
