PC17000 memory worth it?

Worth it for what? Pretty benchmarks, sure. Everything else, not so much.

Take a look at the recent memory reviews here: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/

The conclusions are about the same as their LGA1156 review:

System memory speed doesn’t have a serious effect on the platform performance – this rule also works for LGA1156 systems. In fact, we are not surprised with this outcome: every time we test memory modules for contemporary platforms we arrive at this conclusion in the end. The results of our practical performance tests suggest that DDR3 SDRAM frequency and timings can only make as little as 5% difference on average in LGA1156 systems. Of course, there are a few exceptions to this rule, such as synthetic benchmarks, for example, but they do not affect the overall picture too much.

For what it's worth, Newegg has some DDR3 2500 (PC3 20000): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...0006147&IsNodeId=1&name=DDR3 2500 (PC3 20000)

There was a link to a review posted on the front page of this site today with a link to some Mushkin memory. I don't recall the exact numbers, but the kit was rated for 1600MHz, and they got it to the ~2100MHz range by overclocking, and the timings were very similar to the timings on the kit in the OP. So overclocking some good memory may also be an option, although not as reliable.

I found the link to the review. Here it is in case your interested.http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/mushkin_radioactive_996958/
