I'm in NJ for the holidays and I was LOL'ing that 2 of tge CompUSAs that went out of business back in May (in Parsippany and E. Hanover) still hae a CU sign on them (well 1 does and the other has the shadow of it) and neither building has been occupied by another business since then.
Same in Totowa.

Edit:
Oh, god. :(

has anyone else heard when the next "wave" of discounts are. I thought I heard the 3rd of January

alright just got back from rochester and picked up the p182 limited edition for 170 all together

I dont know if this was posted anywhere else, but when I was at the store today here are the posted "sales":

5% Laptops (include apple)

10% Zune and Samsung MP3 Players

15% Apple Software
15% All GPS
15% All laser printers
15% Plasma & LCD TV's

20% All digital picture frames

30% All iPod & Zune Accessories
30% All cell phones & Accessories
30% Home security
30% Projector screens
30% Satellite radio accessories
30% Vonage
30% Switch boxes
30% Notebook Batteries
30% Books

NO checks, compusa credit cards, gift certificates, returns or exchanges. All sales final.

I went because I'm interested in either a projector or a nice big plasma tv that was a store demo, but the deals still suck. I talked to one of the employees and he agrees - the demo's should be a lot cheaper but they dont care, everything is base price. *Frusterated* A demo plasma should be AT LEAST 40% off considering how long they have those units on display and being used.

I hate Best Buy and always prefered Comp USA, even though I did mostly online orders, but I'm sad to see it go because it was great whenever you needed a quick buy and get it that day. Too bad Newegg doesn't buy CompUSA out =)

Fresno had no CPUs.

Quickly looking over graphics cards (no idea what is the thing today as I haven't replaced my flashed x800(xt?)), I saw ati 2600 HD for 160 or was it 180....

PC games were 15% off so not really a deal. They didn't have any Orange Box to buy.
They had a special edition of LOTRO for $20 before discount.

The only deal I got was a $2 cheaper than the BB a few doors down can of air I needed.

They had some network wireless for 15% off because none of the inventory was moving here in GA. At least that's how I take it. PC Games are only 10% for me right now so I'm waiting for them to be less. I still need a bluetooth usb key to discounted a lot more.

DVDs + Blu-ray are 20% off. The only DVDs I saw were previously viewed ones for $9.99 and the HD DVD and Blu-ray were $19.99.

Scanners were 15%
CD / DVD media were at 20% and not a lot was moving. One guy had 5 in his cart but I think people can hold out some more for the prices to go down. Hopefully by this Monday or Wed.

Someone at slickdeals reportedly got crysis for $4.99. That's pretty hot if you can find it at your local CUSA.

Just speculating/guessing, but does anyone really believe there will be deals? Liquidation specialists or competitors would probably have a deal in place to buy up all remaining inventory at set prices. These companies hate real deals getting into the hands of the public, it sets precedent where no one will buy anything until it is a give away. My bet is they sell out to a large liquidator who buys all. The only reason that might not make sense is the logistics of the inventory being spread so wide, but while it would be nice to think there will be 70-90% off deals, I doubt places like BB and CC and the OEM's themselves would want that to happen.

I think well see real deals but by the time they get around to the real discounts most of the good stuff will be long gone.

I think by the "time" the good deals should start to happen, most of the "good stuff" will be long gone, bought by consumers with no brains that run in because they saw a person on the sidewalk with a sign that said "GOING OUT OF BUSINESS" and then seeing the so-called "discounts" plastered all over the place. If they didn't spend time checking prices on CompUSA stock on a regular basis, they're not going to know that a 50 pack of blank DVD media for $34.99, marked down from $39.99, really isn't a good deal considering you can buy the same thing someplace else for $12.99.

They see signs, they see posters, they think bargains, they empty their wallets and go home with their "good deals" and don't think twice about it.

Sad, really.

visiting my bro down in nashville. we checked out the compusa store here...

crappy deals, lots of people walking around...what a waste.

Forgot to say that when I asked a girl where their CPUs were, she had a dumb founded stare and said...um..as in?...

So I said processors and she said Oh...

Going to be in Nashville tomorrow for work, and was thinking to stop by to see what deal is available.

Thanks for saving time, I think I may not stop by after all...

I visited the Tucson store today... no good deals as better deals exist on newegg. The biggest joke was them having the laptops at only a 5% discount or less. People were leaving the store empty handed and complaining the same as me.

Yeah, the deals are pretty pathetic currently. The only good thing I'm racking up on is the WoW Trading Cards. Which are almost 2 dollars a pack. That's about it though. Everything else is a joke.

Um, the liquidator already bought all the stock. CompUSA is basically already closed. The liquidators are in control already, and the discounts will get better and better the closer they get to the finale close date.

Apparently you have not read one single post in this thread, let alone the news stories, etc.

Came back from a store and all prices are 10-15% off. And most the crap is gone too. The only stuff left is the ridiculously priced internal components and software.

For 20 pages there has been no hot deals, just complaints on the lack of deals. When they start actually dropping prices, start another thread.
