Problem running BF2 & BF 2142 since upgrade - 8800GTX

BF2 and BF2142 won't run since I upgraded my system

Upgrade: C2D E6600, Evga 8800GTX, Asus P5N Deluxe, 2gb Corsair, and X-fi Fatal1ty professional.

I'm also using a Samsung 226BF(S) monitor, but I was using it before the CPU upgrade and they ran fine so that's not it.

I updated 2142 with the new 1.20 patch and still nothing. I'm also running the newest nvidia drivers for the 8800 also.

I went into my NVidia settings and set all the 3D, AA, AF, and everything to "application controlled"... no effect.

I think it's got to be something with the video because as soon as the game tries to start up, the screen goes black, then goes back to the desktop.

Any ideas???

Sometimes that can be caused by the opening videos if I remember correctly. Go to the BF2 folder and look for the movies folder (I think it is). There are 4 or 5 videos in there in the .bik format - change the extension to .bak (or something) and then try it again. Actually it is under mods\bf2\movies - there are 7 of them.

Thanks for the tip... I tried it and it didn't work.

I did an uninstall - re-install and it's working now.
