don't change the subject =P a deal is a deal!!!

No 7800 because Dell wants people to have a reason to pay a thousand more for the XPS laptops.

The 6800 Go in the 9300 can play anything out right now at medium-ish detail at the very least. The worst offender so far is probably F.E.A.R. Otherwise, everything else is pretty damn good.

If you get the 9300 with the 6800 Go don't forget to overclock the video card, as you can get a pretty decent increase out of it for little increase in heat.

thanks.. just order a inspiron 6000 :) I thought about the 9300 but I needed somethign more mobile.

Configuration of the 6000 is as following
Pentium M 1.73ghz w/ 2mb cache

512mb ddr2 single memory
8x CD/CDRW/DVD/DVDRW Drive
Free dell printer

Total 992 after tax.. before tax was 887.

Bah!

Dell emailed me last night and said that my credit card was declined!
I guess it's because I hardly ever use my credit card and the bank flagged the transaction as possible fraud.

Only problem is that the bank isn't open until Monday, and the Dell coupons expire on Sunday!

I hope Dell honors all my discounts; I already have an order number and everything.

Go thru, order the system again, except apply for the DPA. I'm 21 and got a 4,000 credit line instantly with zero interest until Jan 07. Once you get things straightned out with the CC company, you can use your CC to pay it all off on Monday. And you get an additional 2% off for using DPA.

Technicall, you can get up to 54% off if my math is correct.

A $2000 Laptop.

Minus 30%
Minus 12%
Minus 2%
Minus $200

Come to $920

Damn, thats pretty good, maybe I should apply..

i was looking at the terms of the coupon 30 % off. if 2,000 have been ordered......
Offer ends 11/27/05, 11:59pm CT or after 2000 redemptions, whichever occurs first. Multi-use coupon. Offer not valid on XPS systems. Only one coupon may be applied for per cart at checkout. Purchase limit of 5 same systems per order. Not combinable with other instant dollars off, percent off, and mail-in rebate promotions. Valid only for EPP members and not for resellers and/or online auctions.

When you go to checkout, click to pay by credit card first, then near the top of the page will be an offer for 2% off if you choose DPA. Click on that, and it will ask you to register since its ur first time. If you dont click to pay by credit card first, you will not get the 2% off offer.

Also, you CAN upgrade the video card in the 9300 to the 7800 Go GTX. You would need to flash the bios to the xps2 bios and get a 9 cell battery with a 130w power adapter. There are multiple success stories on notebookforums of people doing it. The problem...you need to acquire the 7800, which is like $500+ from dell :(

Not bad for a laptop with a 5hour batt life...but for the same price I can finish upgrading my system. And I don't need a laptop till next summer anyways.

Got my dad an Inspiron 6000, he saved about $1200.

His office has a 9300 but he doesn't like it size-wise so the 6000 was a good fit for him.

Got the Pentium M 2.0Ghz
The 1200x800 resolution screen, he can't read anything higher in res anyway so it works well for him
1 Gig RAM
7200 RPM 60 gig drive, I installed one in his current Inspiron 8600 and he likes the speed boost over the 5400 RPM drive
Office Standard
Windows XP Pro
Free DVD burner upgrade

He's very pleased with the purchase as he needed another laptop. It will be $1415 after all is said and done.

Great deal. If I needed a new laptop I would have got one for myself too.

I have it sitting in my cart... anyone know if they show the price as being before the 200 mir? mine is at 1750 and I signed up for the credit card thing so I would have no interest payments until 2007.... would it actually be 1550 then?
