Trying to finish up my friends upgrade and I figured that as his system is 100% rock solid at stock speed that I'd tweak his B3 Q6600 to a real simple 3ghz, or so I thought.

Anyways heres what we have:

Asus P5Q Pro Turbo with latest bios
Q6600 B3 1.24v vid
4x 1gb Kingston basic DDRII 667
Silverstone 700w PSU

Heres what I tried to do that failed OCCT repeatedly.

Set FSB in bios to 333mhz, locked multi at 9x, set DDRII speed manually to 667 and left SPD to auto. Boosted memory voltage to 1.9v from 1.8v seeing as 4 sticks were used.

The system will boot into windows with these settings but OCCT crashes within 10 - 30 seconds.

Any suggestions?

A B3 almost certainly needs more Vcore at 333. Some B3's had a hard time getting to 3GHz without a lot of voltage.
