I recently got a new 42" LCD TV and would like to connect my computer to it. I also have my computer connected to a 22" monitor through DVI.

My question is if I have both connected at the same time, will my computer recoginize what device is powered up or do I have to unplug the HDMI from the TV everytime I want to use my computer screen?

Stupid question

The best thing to do would be to test it. :)

My guess is that it's going to work fine and you won't have to unplug anything. However, if you configure your OS for dual monitors, it might cause some usability issues if one of them isn't on. Also, if you have different native resolutions on the monitors and you are displaying the same image to both, one of the displays will suffer quality loss.

How it responds is most likely going to be a function of your display adapter, your driver, your OS, and your TV.
