this component recently fell off of my video card while I was checking my sata connectors for a drive that wasn't connected fully due to a lose connection, looks like a capacitor? I'm not sure what it is, but my system still works fine, should I be worried that my system will spontaneously catch fire?

If its under warranty, you might want to get in touch with them.
Otherwise, sit it out and see.
If there are no issues, chances are the voltage it is stabilising is already stable enough for your use.

Thank god for EVGA's lifetime warranty. I'll contact their RMA department to see if it's covered.

Yea should work fine, and I don't use this rig for anything graphically intensive, but if they accept the RMA and step it up to a GTX 200 series I won't mind either!!
