SilverStone SG07 - New Mini-itx case

I got mine. I have both the Lian Li q08 and and the sugo 07 was a hell of alot easier to cram in my h50. Heck i even managed to do to fans in push pull configuration. I have a J&W minix 780g and a phenom II 945 @ 3.6 1.45 vcore. (not bad for a 65w rated itx board ;))

The q08 is much too big to stick in a bag and carry around as a laptop replacement but the sugo 07 fits the bill nicely. ( I travel alot for work )

Oh and just for reference silverstone your "specially shortened cables" are still way too long. Cable management is a bitch. I have no idea how you would cram a 5970 in the case. I ended up cramming all the excess wires bundled in the very front of the case. My 5770 was tricky to get in there and its is not all that long. That power supply needs modular cabling. Oh well i don't think bad of the case i have the sug05 and the sugo7 is a much better case for higher end components.

I never dreamed i could do push pull on the h50 in a itx case as small as sug07 but if you use a 20mm slim fan you can still have room for a 25mm regular width fan. Low speed yate loon for the win.

Agreed! Need pics! Also, hows the rest of your systems temps with the H50 dumping the heat on it? Thats the one thing im worried about.

push pull netted me about 4-6 c off load temps. I don't have ac so with a ambient temp of 86F it loads at 60c. in the q08 it was 62-64c. When i have my room temp lower it barely breaks 50c. (fans are yate loon l speed around 1400rpm for noise.) I hear higher pressure fans are recommended for better temps but noise was a factor that and i had the yate loons on hand already. Ill upload some pics tomorrow. Unfortunately the q08 has one and i mean only one orientation for the h50 mounting and my so dimm slots on the top edge of the board had pressure on them by the hoses from the radiator. let me tell you the sugo 07 was a dream by comparison to mount the h50 in. I can orient the radiator in any direction i choose. btw the fans push pull and exhaust out the top.

You are NOT helping my patience as i wait for this case to ship....

You are NOT helping my patience as i wait for this case to ship....

What can i say sundialmicro shipped it the day i ordered. I actually ordered it at 4:15 that day and had a tracking number when i got home by 5:45. I was amazed i was't expecting it to get shipped out that fast or come on Saturday. I wasn't expecting it until at least next week.

Now the only question is what bag to get for max protection when im traveling.

Before i post these pics let me make this clear. I have not completed all my cable management so no ragging on my build. I spent as little time possible to build this do to time constraints. I believe this pics will demonstrate how much of challenge cable routing will be in this case.

A. The wires are way too long.

B. The wires especially the atx when bundled together are very still and unwieldy.

C. Video cards are 100% dependent on you cable management skills.

It took way more time to get my video card in the build even through it was not very long do to the fact that the cables too long and even the best attempts to mangame the bulk of the cables makes mounting the card trickyer than it appears to be.

My number one tip to any one building a box with this case is take you time lest you build looks as bad as mine.

FYI the reason for the rats nest on the right side is my desire to use a single power cable for both the hdd and optical and fans. Yate loons can be powered either by molex or 3 pin. So fan --> fan --> Sata right angle power adapter --> optical drive.

Also right angle sata cables are highly recommended for any build using this case as you can see from the pics i barley clear the bottom fan of the posh pull setup. Also the manual staes the only way to use the 2.5 inch bays is to use right angle sata cables. From my observations this is accurate. I am unsure if the bays will fit 12.5 mm drives but it look like it might.

mmmmm porn....

Yea those wires do look oddly long... but ive been pretty crafty before : P Glad they didnt do a front fan like the sg05.
How are your temps doing in that beast? Any idea how much room you got under the mobo, In case someone needs to put little heat sinks down there?

Silverstone states that the SG07 can fit up to a 117mm HSF.

Anyone interested in starting a thread about HSFs for the SG07 specifically?

I'm having some issues finding good fans, considering that the AXP140 seems ideal STILL since 180mm blowing down onto a 140mm HSF w/ 120mm fan on it cooling the heatsink and mosfets.

Btw, Corsair H50 fits in this w/o mods, but you must remove the 180mm fan and mount the 120mm rad in its place (has holes for it).

no no no, i was getting at clearance under the mobo, for mosfet heat sinks and such :p

The problem with a "does it fit in the sg07" thread is that youd have to make a sub thread for each itx mobo, as they are all slightly different and on some, if you put a certain heat sink in it blocks either the PCI-E slot or it blocks the Memory. Or the freaken GA-H55N that is going to have me cut up my back plate ; )

Just mention what socket...

P55 / H55 / AM2+

Things will either be new or probably simply redundant in most cases.

Hmmm... mosfets UNDER the board... Sorry... well, at least the info will still help people. I know I might have to be remind in my hunt...

You got the SG07 yet? I'll be watching what you buy since we ended up deciding on the exact same rig, besides the CPU (between i5 750 and i3 530). I even have an 8800gts G92 (if you have the xfx alpha dog, i'll **** myself).

If you plan on doing mosfets on top (sounds like it), enzotech makes some high quality copper sinks I've had good luck with. There's no mounting holes on the mobo for a mosfet cooler unfortunately.

temps are quite good considering, around 50c load 35c idle Phenom II 945 @ 3.6 1.45 vcore. 2 yate loon 1400rpm low speed fans. And there is a good amount of space under the mobo. i have some rather large surface mount components on the under side of the board that have plenty of space. I have had this board in a case that i actually had to put electrical tape because the stand offs were too short.

You will need a slim fan on one side to do push pull. I used 20mm fan on top and a 25mm underneath. I highly recommend yate loons for value and the fact that you can get them in slim (20mm) or regular (25mm) with either open posts or closed post frames. (doesn't really matter for the h50 but other heat sinks may need open posts for fan clips.)

Haha, no dont have the alpha dog... i skimped out and got the msi :p 20$ says you get your case first... i tried to get in on the amazon one, but its back ordered... so might have to cancel and buy from sundialmicro... just dont want to spend the extra cash to ship this beast. I'm pretty sure im gonna try the H50 rout. just have to wait and see what works best in this case, a larger fan or doing the dual 20/25 fans like Exocet956.

Yea i went over the enzotech sinks the other day :p not sure if im going to by the long mosfet stips and just cut them to the size or as others have done just get the ones for memory chips (just have to use thermal tape)

Or another option, if the 8800 is short enough and i can get one of those short pci exhaust rights and just have the fan on the window with it exhausting the fresh air under the mobo. hopefully thats not too gehto...

So many options to think about and cant rule out any till i get the case :(

Notice that they use the DFI board- that Noctua HS would not work with any H55 board, nor will Silverstone's own NT-06, with a GPU installed. Wonder if we'll see any H55 boards with the socket away from the PCIe slot like DFIs P55 board?

I like new cooler from Scythe RASETSU. IIt will be used without their own fan. It will be used only with silverstone 18cm fan. And I like the heatpipe. No collision with VGA.

claims its 141mm tall, might not fit you 117mm clearance : ( maybe thats with the fan on, so in that case it might be perfectly close to the case fan.

Hm, I must check up the dimensions.

And the new low profile Noctua looks very promising too.

I wonder how that'll compare to the known working thermalright axp-140.

Seems the noctua is truly designed for low profile, while the axp simply happens to fit. Unless the noctua comes with both fans or is fairly cheap I can't see this winning over a lot of ppl as the hsf of choice for this case.

An axp that'll fit a normal120mm or 140mm fan will have ungodly performance in this case.

Woot, amazon finally got more sg07's in stock, supposed to be here on the 19th : P

I'm just going to assume the SG07 and even the ST45SF won't be available in Canada for quite some time?

did you even check ncix before posting? ST45SF and sg07 is in stock at richmond warehouse. Both versions at $215 and $226

I did check. At the time I posted neither were available for order(SG07 didn't wasn't even listed).

Im waiting for SG07-W. Normal version is already in stock of shops in Czech Republic.

Wow, this is a beautiful case, on a plus note, in person the front is more of a black brushed aluminum then silver. looks pretty nice actually. Ill upload some pics tomorrow hopefully : )

It's funny, I got my case from Sundial Micro and the Silverstone box says SG07-W ... I thought they gave me the windowed version, but it's the one with out (originally ordered). Anyone else's box give you the wrong model number? lol

Don't say that! I ordered the windowed unit as well. I hope that yours was a fluke. Are you getting $10 back or getting the right one?

How long did it take them to ship you the case? I ordered mine ground.

I originally ordered the non-windowed version and received that one. The box says SG07-W on it though. So I didn't pay for the windowed version. Just thought it was strange to have SG07-W on the box even though it's a non-windowed case.

It took about 5 days to get it through ground....

Have you looked on the other side of your box? I think Silverstone uses one standard box and then places a sticker on your specific case on the shorter side of the box.

My box says SG07 on one side and SG07-W on the other side with pictures of each version on their respective side. It then has the sticker on the short side that says SG07B-W, which is the windowed version I ordered.

Mine came FedEx Home Delivery and took roughly 5 days.

WOW! I feel like a complete dumbass now... You are correct. lol ... I'm going to now go to the kitchen and grab the knife! ;-)

I have news!!!!!!!!

Good news:

Got my case on Friday! This thing is tiny, but I managed to cram a TON of stuff in there.

I can confirm that the AXP140 + 38mm thick san ace fits w/ about 9mm of clearance.

Cable routing is a pain, but doable. BUY A LOT OF twist ties. This is good b/c its not impossible. Bad new would be I can't fit what I want.

Good airflow despite being cramped.

GTX260 fits like a champ!

Bad news:

Cable routing is a bitch, ,lol.

I have to disassemble my case and take the PSU out just to remove the video card.

UGLY:

PSU died within 4 hours of running the rig. No OC, all stock. I have to RMA w/ Silverstone on Monday. What a Pain!

A capacitor basically blew up with a large bright blue death. Went into S3 sleep and BOOM!

Caseless for at least a week.
