HP/Compaq 8710p Laptop
All power saving features turned off in windows XP SP3.
BIOS doesn't have any settings (it IS HP after all)

The GPU is OCed to the maximum settings the EVGA precision software will allow; 850 core, 1840 shaders for this 8700m GT.

But the damn thing still throttles down after a few minutes. CPUs stay at 100% folding but the GPU will only stay at 100% while I am using it.

Difference is 2500 PPD GPU2 + 800 PPD SMP vs 600 GPU2 + 800SMP.

Ideas?

You should have a power profile section under desktop / screensaver. The word "Power" shows up at the bottom of the tab. In mine I can turn off all battery settings and set it to full time desktop. Set the disk to never power down and set it so closing the lid does nothing.

But then you probably know all this. Unless of course you have had your head stuc........errrr under the hood of servers for too long;):D
