Well, I installed Ubuntu on a friend's computer just now, but I didn't realise Symantec GoBack was so terrible. To my dismay, I discovered that it does not work with any bootloader other than the WinXP one, and using GRUB caused it to bluescreen before windows could even begin booting. So, I popped in a WinXP disc and did a fixmbr, but it still bluescreens, only later. Symantec say to disable GoBack, but it's not letting us now. Are there files I can delete to get rid of GoBack or are we screwed?

Symantec Go-Back is the devil There is a product that does what Go-Back does that's far better called Deep Freeze. It's from a company called Faronics and is much much better and more reliable.

When Go-Back (Should be called Go-F*%^% your PC) screws up, the best thing you can do is uninstall it. There is a utility out on the web somewhere that will remove that god aweful pile of crap that works really well. You'll have to search for it as I am not sure where I got it the last time I used it.
