Ok well long story short, my 5.1 receiver died.

But this might just make me do what I was thinking of doing.

I have a small room and was using the surround speakers, it was nice and all when I could hear footsteps behind me for a brief moments in games and stuff like that but I never really appreciated them as much as others.

I have an old 5.1 receiver that only has stereo inputs that I am going to hook up and start using now as my replacement. But I am thinking of just using the left right center and subwoofer.

Is there a way to use the surround speakers (2 of them) with my PC. there are these.

I am guessing I would need an amp, right?

If its a 5.1 receiver it should have 5 channels and a subwoofer channel, not just stereo.

Sounds like all you need is a stereo receiver to power those two speakers off your PC. You can probably just use the 3.5mm jack (the green plug) on the back of your computer to your receiver. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Are you asking what is possible, or what is optimal?

What kind of budget are you working with, and what are your expectations? What are your uses (gaming, music, tv, movies, etc)?
