Okay, I've been out of the computer building scene since I built my last PC (2+ years ago) and I have no idea what video cards are what anymore. I'm currently playing BF4 on low to medium settings with fairly decent framerates but I would like to upgrade this PC one last time but I hand it down to one of my horrible kids. ;) I was looking at a EVGA 650 Ti Boost but I'll wait to see what you guys have to say. Price range is $175 to $250 and I live in Dallas. My rig is as follows...
Phenom II X4 3.0 ghz Deneb
GA-MA790X-UD4P
EVGA GeForce GTS 250
Acer 21 in monitor 1650 x 1080
6 Gigs A-Bit DDR2 800 5-5-5-15
Soundblaster X-Fi eXtreme Gamer
Windows 7 64 bit

AMD R9 280X. It's just outside your price range, but it'd be a good upgrade IMO.

Could get a 7970 for close to that price range on sale, just a little slower than 280x.

Id try to find a used 7950 or 7870xt. That cpu even at 4ghz is going to bottleneck even those gpu's. Used 670 or new 760 if you want to stay nvidia.

Yea, I was wondering at what point my quad core Phenom II would bottleneck a GPU. That 670 looks sexy, but then again, everything looks nice when compared to my GTS 250.
